Redemption: The Stan "Tookie" Williams Story


This movie is about the life of Stanley "Tookie" Williams III. Tookie was the leader and co-founder of the notorious Crip gang originating in South Central, Los Angeles. Early in his life he moved from New Orleans, Louisiana  to South Central, LA with his mom. He never had the chance to get to know his dad, but when his mom did introduce him to his dad, his dad ran out again. Tookie has to gain his respect when he first moved in, so get got into alot of fights, but never backed down from no fight. Eventually he was known as the toughest guy around. He felt like he had no family, so with the people that he was cool with he formed a gang called the "Cribs" later to be renamed as the "Crips". 
Tookie finally get caught with first degree murder and eventually sentenced to death row. In jail he decided to change his life around God. While on death row, a author named Barbara Becnel was writing a book about the gang origin of the Crips. They gained each others trust and helped each other with there books. Tookie wanted to write children's books about staying away from the gang life, and Barbara helped him get it published. Soon enough it happened and Tookie got nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and won. Tookie made a video to the gangs in LA that he help start about keeping the peace and stop all the gang violence. After all that success Tookie still was on death row and was executed Dec. 13th, 2005 at the age of 51.
